HAY GURL um not much actually!! I am feeling SUPER under the weather rn so forgive me if I just... ramble incoherently. I'd imagined it was like Mina has never made any secret of her animosity and so she might've said smth about how she wished Magdalen would just DIE and GO AWAY FOREVER, which coincided with Mag actually getting sick enough to spend a night or two in the infirmary? And dumb high school rumours happened, as they do. Mina's petty enough to refuse to walk that statement back ("ugh she's not DYING, why is everyone FUSSING over her so much"), but she does feel this kernel of guilt over being awful about it. less guilt now that magdalen is, y'know, not dead and also HEAD GIRL LIKE EVERYONE KNEW SHE WOULD BE. ugh.
also mag's a lesbian GOD BLESS i love you. i love all of you. i love how gay this game is. i mean it might be bc the last time i was in games was like a decade ago but for real i have never in my life seen so many lesbians in a hp game, and it's just a delight. TBH for mina i had been thinking she's a lesbian who's rather repressed and/or deep in compulsive heterosexuality and/or rebelling against later-in-life lesbian mom, and a lot of this unnecessary hostility against magdalen was just... misdirected gayness. so that makes it doubly interesting that mag is an out lesbian but i'm not sure yet what im doing with that!!!! i like to keep my kids' sexualities slightly open and see how they develop in play aaaand i have not been playing mina very much yet oooops. but that will change soon!!! c:

I was thinking maybe last year, Mag was taking a ridiculous load of classes and the stress made her susceptible to sickness and one day, she was just spewing from both ends and had to take a week off to spend it in the infirmary. she probably didn't put too much effort into dispelling the rumor since Mina had been rude af to her for a long while and she was feelin especially petty after that week she was shitting her brains out and Mina dgaf. she would've told people that no, she wasn't poisoned, and made one statement about "mina would never~~ uwu" but not really because Mina would never but more because it was the Correct Thing To Say.
lmao I'M GLAD. the older and gayer i get the more I'm just like, "IF IT'S NOT QUEER THEN WHY AM I HERE?" and it fills me with delight that both the headboy and headgirl are gay. ABSOLUTE DELIGHT. i think lesbians are still pretty rare in rp games and this is the first time I've seen so many in one game and it's GREAT. they're all so very diverse in personalities too and it gives me life.

Besides what we talked about in my intro post, I was thinking about the poisoning rumour and... I don't think Dahlia would 100% believe it. She'd probably wonder if it was true, just in case, but she'd mostly find it very OTT and hard to believe. Along the lines of, "ok, Mina is really difficult to deal with sometimes but I don't think she'd poison anyone! I hope".
I can also totally see Dahlia just wishing everyone in her cabin could get along and sometimes just thinking she just had to get the dramatic poisoning rumours cabin, WHY.

ok ok so girly week at the morales-tran residence. i don't really have an iternary in mind and the major things we have talked about are the ermine chase and visiting ~the mall~ sooooo does it make sense to just have a section for the home and one for the mall? is there anywhere else they are going? or is it better to split it into days? aaand what about random visitor drop ins? yes i am overthinking.
UM i think by day is pretty logical so you can get a roughly chronological order of events? makes it a little easier to sort out what's happening for the whole trip.

I've never thought too hard on it, but it seems like Mina and Essie do not speak any language other than English, but would they understand some level of spoken Vietnamese? Or do you envision the extended family are all very much English speakers also?
Good question! Um, I did imagine that their mother is fluent in Vietnamese and their father is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, but there was a lot of English in the household growing up, since that was their lingua franca. After the divorce, Johanna probably spoke more Vietnamese to them at home. So yes, I think Mina and Essie understand some level of spoken Vietnamese, and are probably abysmal at Mandarin, lol.
(Mina can speak Vietnamese, but not very well and Mina never does anything unless she thinks she can do it very well, so Mina and Essie do probably exclusively speak English to each other. They might shake it up a bit more when they're with their mother.)
Afaik, Ofelia and Diego's first language was Spanish, and that was the primary language they spoke at home before the Tran ladies arrived. Since Essie's spent more time with Ofelia, it's possible that Essie knows some Spanish too?

That's a good point about Ofelia. During Spring Break, I had established that she knew some basic phrases like "Don't worry, it'll be fine!" to tell Pilar when she was in the kitchen with Pippa. I suppose I could just say that languages aren't really Essie's Thing since she did have some speech trouble when she was younger. Maybe another case of understands more than she can speak, just like with Vietnamese and Mandarin. (But Essie is a brat and probably pretends to not understand Pilar whenever it's convenient.)
1) yes!!! Mina is super proud of Essie for getting into Animagus Studies and when they get tired of studying essie can snuggle with her super surly stoat sister. I imagine that Mina has gone off and pursued whatever's the equivalent of wizard post-sec but she'll be home for all of Christmas and there will be less yelling because she misses Essie :c
2) OH HELL YES mina approves of essie undergoing a powerful independent woman fashion makeover
omg maybe they will :C although i'm not sure essie really wants mina to show up and talk to her teachers since mina will be GRILLING THEM about how well essie's doing in all of her classes 8(
1) gasp TOO CUTE too too cute. essie's doing a lot better than the start of the year but she still misses her big sister a ton :c she wants to send all her friends a christmas selfie of her wearing mina as a scarf
2) essie maybe has a boyfriend and she's gonna be SEVENTEEN in a few months so it's time to try on a power suit
tbf she would completely deserve it. she's definitely doing better academically than she was last year, but still has plenty of BEHAVIORAL ISSUES and i'm serious about taking her allowance away after break for too many loser point months X(
